April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born on July 4, 1995. In the seventh grade she began taking piano and guitar lessons. It was this that ignited her love to write songs. April Lockhart penned her first single"Different" when she was 12 years old. When she was 14, April devoted much of her time creating and playing with songs. In the following months, she started taking writing trips along with her father in LA in addition to NY. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle in the area of social pressure and teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous cosmetics brand Ilia and also is a lifestyle blogger with a huge following of her own. She was born without a left hand. This is what makes her different. But this isn't the only aspect that makes her unique. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't cover up her disability, but it does not just focus on it. The message? The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. The identities we have are complex and we contain many different elements. It's not my intention to let that define me I don't want to be a disability influencer where that's all I discuss because there are many different things about me Lockhart speaks via video from her home in Nashville. The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my everyday life. Everything is normal and I've learned to adjust. It's an integral part of my life, so it is important to talk about it. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey is one that will last for a long time, and she can be a role model with regard to this. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of insecurity with her body and feeling uncomfortable in certain clothes that exposed her arms. She now wears whatever she likes. And she posts her photos on social networks. It's all a process is what I'm not sure if it will be an end of self-love. It's a long journey. I'm sure that you never arrive. It's important to have people in your life who know and can relate to the way you feel. They'll be the ones who ask you: What do you think about?
